Our Debating program is open to students who enjoy critical thinking, public speaking, and building confidence in communicating ideas. Students from any year level are welcome to attend training sessions and get involved. Debating is a great way to develop skills in researching, constructing arguments, teamwork, and confidently presenting ideas in a supportive and engaging environment.
Our teams compete in the Queensland Debating Union competition against schools from across Brisbane, providing students with regular opportunities to challenge themselves and represent the school.
In 2026, we have teams competing in Years 8, 9 and 11, and we look forward to watching the program continue to grow in the coming years.
The Valley Vibe and Yearbook Club
Valley Vibe & Yearbook is a student club that gives students the opportunity to capture and share the story of school life at FVSSC throughout the year.
Valley Vibe runs all year and produces a digital newspaper once per term. Students contribute through photography, writing, design, interviewing, and content creation to showcase events, achievements, and student voice across the school.
The Yearbook runs in Semester 2 and is a physical publication created at the end of the year. Students work together to design and produce a keepsake that captures key moments, memories, and highlights from the school year.
Open to students in all year levels, this club is a great opportunity to build skills in storytelling, creativity, teamwork, and design in a real-world context. Students should keep an eye on Compass for updates and information on how to get involved.
Z Club
Z Club is a student-led service and advocacy group focused on empowering women and girls locally and around the world. Through awareness campaigns and community projects, students work together to support initiatives that promote gender equality, education, and opportunity.
Open to students in all year levels, Z Club provides a space for students to develop leadership skills, engage in meaningful advocacy, and make a positive impact beyond the school community. The club is based on the values and mission of Zonta International.
Students are encouraged to get involved and help drive projects that create real change for women and girls worldwide.
Keep an eye on Compass for more updates and information on how to join.
